Tonight I start a recipe that is dear to me, because it reminds me of my mother. And I had to purchase a special ingredient to begin. Saffron. Half an ounce and all $8.50 of it. But the aroma and taste are so distinct and rare that it was worth every penny! Right now the fragile little threads are soaking overnight and tomorrow I will continue to indulge my sentimental side.
