I got a great idea from a friend recently. He has a family with three kids ages 6-11, and they realized that too many summers passed with them wondering "What did we do all summer?" They remedied the situation by coming up with a list for the summer. Even though my kids are younger, I knew we could benefit from loosely structured ideas for how to pass the time during these fleeting summer months. So... here is our rendition, on display for all to see!

This is so appropriate to do at this point in my life, because recently - on my birthday to be exact (did I mention my 30TH BIRTHDAY? That deserves its own blog post) - Tom and I happened to be on a River Valley staff outing that included spouses, and I asked Pastor Rob if he had any advice for me, at the start of a new decade of my life. He said that the 30's are a decade of family, and that should be a priority. I love that. I am thrilled to be a wife and mom and intent to live it out to its fullest. Here's to a new, wonderfully promising decade!
What a great idea! I was just thinking this week that summer's half over & how many more things I'd like to do that haven't been done yet. We stopped by a fresh produce farm stand yesterday & bought fresh peaches, blackberries, raspberries & corn & it's all so yummy! I love this about summer!
ReplyDeleteYay! I love this list and I am proud to say that I have already done #4, 11, 19, 20, 21, 26, 33 (with Nina), and 39 with you guys! Hooray. I love summer! p.s. When are you doing #7? I want to be there, and #12 too!
