SCHOOL PROJECT

I've heard it said, when referring to parenting, that the days are long and the years are short. Because my oldest is now six, and I have more than a year or two to gauge by, I would say that I agree with that statement. It's an irony that I don't quite understand. But I'm grateful to be re-living the baby and infant stage, now on my third baby Gwen. She is a relatively calm and happy baby, but the chaos of our household ensues, with my older two and their joyful noises throughout the day. Never a dull moment in our house!

Here is a photo of Gwen I took yesterday. She is just beginning to discover her hands... so cute.

And yes, those are jeggings. I love dressing my little girl.

And this is a photo of a project we were working on for Ian's class presentation yesterday. We drew and colored the American flag ourselves. I knew there were 13 stripes and 50 stars, but I'd never had to actually draw the flag. They loved it!!

Tomorrow Ian gives a presentation on a book about puffins. He is so knowledgeable. I asked him recently what his favorite part about school is, and he said "presentations!" without hesitation. I love seeing him develop poise and social skills.

A TOAST TO THE NEW YEAR

We did an informal, fun toast last night. The kids, Moriah, Tom and I all toasted Henry Weinhardt's root beer and watched the Times Square ball drop (rerun on YouTube from last year... we watched at 9pm). The kids loved counting down, and Ian especially enjoyed having "pop" since I deprive my kids cruelly from soda consumption. Fun was had by all!

Cheers to a new year! What are your resolutions?
